Probably not entirely the fault of Brexit
Jul. 4th, 2016 11:15 amApple Pro Speakers (the spherical acrylic ones that go with the iMac G4, Mac Cube, etc.) seem to have had a sudden price surge, even the ones on sale in the UK. I'm hoping it's just a temporary blip, if not it's going to make restoring them a lot less profitable. I'm thinking about bundling the current ones with a pair of USB-powered speakers instead if I can't sort out the real thing soon.
Annoyingly there was a job lot of five sets on offer from the US last week, even with shipping they would have worked out much cheaper per pair. Maybe something like that will turn up again. At the moment I'm seeing single sets on sale with silly shipping from the US, e.g. $40! Meanwhile, if anyone in the UK sees anything like this in a charity shop or something please let me know, or pick them up for me if they're cheap!
