And the bundles continue - Part Time Gods
Mar. 31st, 2022 06:16 pmNot sure why there have been so many recently - end of the tax year? - but here's another RPG bundle offer, this time for a system I've never come across before, Part Time Gods. This is another that will only run for a few days, until Monday next week.
( Part Time Gods )
Basically this seems to be a superhero RPG with divinity as the source of powers, and the usual tropes of secret identities, dependent NPCs, secret wars, etc.. American Gods and the Percy Jackson books seem high on the list of things that inspired it. There seems to be an inbuilt assumption that gods can accumulate power quickly, apparently without much in the way of a religion to feed them power, which seems a little odd, but is probably necessary for a playable game - most players won't want to spend a couple of thousand years going from "local spirit in charge of rainfall along this valley" to "God of Thunder" or whatever. I've taken a look and it seems reasonably playable, but I haven't played it so there may be horrible problems I've missed - the need for vast quantities of 10-sided dice is the first one I spotted, there was a reason I've stuck with six-sided dice for my own games, and a big part of it is that they're cheap, readily available, and relatively small and light. But I digress...
It looks like you're getting a good deal for $9.95, and if this is the sort of game you want to play it's well worth a look. Recommended, but as usual I should point out that I'm not paying for this stuff and may be biased.
