Security issues

Recently Firefox and some other browsers have started to give error messages when downloading files from my web site because it's set up to use http, not https, for file and image links. So far as I know no files are compromised on the site, and I really can't change every existing link given how many of them there are, though I will try to set up any new links that way. In any case it isn't really the file that Firefox is complaining about, it's the connection.
If you are using Firefox you can switch to using secure connections by going to
tools/settings/privacy and security
and ticking
Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in all windows
or Enable HTTPS-Only Mode in private windows only then opening the link in a private window.
Either works well for my site - however, some other sites give "file not found" and other errors if you try the HTTPS-Only option. For that reason I'd suggest limiting it to private windows.
Not sure how you do this for other browsers.
